eBay to offer 100% buyer protection
Monday, June 23rd, 2008
Online auction site eBay announced last week that it is to revamp its buyer protection scheme to provide members with 100% protection on all purchases in the event of fraud.
The company, fighting to keep sellers off rivals such as Amazon.com Inc, also said sellers with top ratings would get an improved 20 percent discount on auction fees.
The new protections for both buyers and sellers only apply if the purchase is made using PayPal. The previous version of eBay’s buyer protection plan offered coverage of up to $200 for most items and up to $2,000 for items purchased from eBay’s most established merchants.
