We want your feedback, you want their feedback
Since launching the MutualPoints reviews section it has proved to be incredibly popular with you the MutualPoints user, with over 400 reviews being posted thus far. They’re a great indicator of a shops popularity. Amazon for instance have had around 30 reviews, Tesco 16 and M&S 9. I wrote recently about how research suggests that shoppers love reading the views of others before getting their credit card out, and today I stumbled across another piece of research suggesting the exact same thing.
61% of you consult reviews before purchasing
In a recent survey by Opinion Research Company (pdf), 61% of respondents say they consult online reviews, blogs and other sources of online feedback before purchasing a new product or service, with search engines being the preferred method of conducting the research, Opinion Research says. 83% of those responding indicated that online product evaluations and reviews have at least some level of influence on their purchasing decisions.
In addition, 70% of consumers responding to the survey say they seek out information online for a particular brand of goods and services. Travel, recreation and leisure top the list at 82%, followed by electronic goods (80%), household products and services (66%), clothing (55%), automotive (55%), personal care (40%) and food (24%).
Useful and rewarding
So there you have it, reading reviews is a great way to research your online purchases, but with MutualPoints writing reviews are also rewarding. Aside from the great karma you receive for helping out others you stand the chance of winning £100 each month for writing the best review in that month. That’s a pretty darn good incentive I reckon, so get reviewing and see if you can bag the prize.
