As a programmer I understand that Web security is hard but I’ve been safe following these rules:
1. Only shop with known brands. This destroys the dream of small retailers competing with large brands but web sites are hard to program properly and small outfits just don’t have the resources to do it properly.
2. Never ever click on links in emails or from IM programs.
3. Always check the details by double clicking on the “padlock” in the browser before committing my Credit Card details.
